“We spend our days at the shop and nights baking custom cakes, cupcakes, bagels and more. When someone accidentally leaves the display case door open, temperatures can go up quick specially in the summer months. Before installing MSG’s temperature sensors, we don’t know until it’s too late, it already happened, and we also do not know how high the temperatures went and for how long. Today, with the alerts we are getting, we can make informed decision, instead of “guesstimating” or being surprised the next day, saving us time and money, and helping us sleep better at night.”

Skyview Acres Farm uses IoT and saves 300 lbs of meat
“What meat we actually have in inventory is precious to us and our customers. Our meat CSA is sold out and all our inventory goes to covering the next month and a half of CSA orders. Then we had an ALMOST catastrophic freezer failure. The compressor wasn’t running it’s auto defrost cycle. Frost was building up and preventing airflow. While we spent 9:30am to 4:30pm on the road today, we were getting text alerts on the freezer temp. Because of this, we were able to save 150lbs in ground beef, 150 lbs in steaks and roasts, and 100 lbs in Cornish hens. It would have been catastrophic for our business if it had all thawed out. Don’t put off getting temperature monitoring!! Before this weekend, I would have said it was not necessary- just use a thermometer you can read when you walk by. I will never give anyone that advice again..”
ChefScape Leesburg Commercial Kitchen Uses Sensors To Keep Members’ and Customers’ Food Fresh
“Our customers trust that the equipment and space they use is maintained at the highest level so they can ultimately produce their best for their customers. In a shared kitchen, we are storing inventory for multiple food service operators and when our equipment fails, we are impacting not only 1 but multiple operators. Before we had the MSG sensors, our previous sensors was just not reliable enough. Now we get a notification when the temperature is rising or is high and can see for how long it’s been high, so we can plan and prevent a bigger problem from happening.”

Technology In Historic Town’s Modern Restaurant and Cocktail Bar
Within months after the monitoring solution was installed, the system alerted of an incident where the cooler door was not shut all the way which could have resulted in thousands of dollars of spoiled inventory and labor time to replace.
Two food safety behaviors/practices were identified as needing the most improvement
Control over Foodborne Illness Risk Factors Of the foodborne illness risk factors, restaurants had the best control over “inadequate cooking.” There remains a need to gain better control over “improper holding/time and temperature” and “poor personal hygiene.”
FDA Food Safety
Consumers deserve to be confident in the safety of the food supply. Because farmers and food manufacturers want their customers, as well as their business, to thrive. But most importantly: Because too many of our citizens are still getting sick and dying of foodborne illness – and we can do better. No, we MUST do better.
Temperature sensors for local Chicago eatery
“Since adding these sensors, we’ve been able to prevent at least 2 bad surprises. The feeling of coming in the restaurant in the morning to open and seeing that the fridge has been left open or that the fridge quit working sometime the night before is a heart sinking feeling because you know these things happened and there isn’t much you can do, yet there you are, throwing hundreds or thousands of dollars of food in the trash.”
